IMS Precision Brewing Basket
One of the easiest ways to improve your espresso is upgrading the basket in your portafilter. Stock filter baskets are mass produced and can vary wildly in hole size and number, leading to inconsistent tamping and uneven extraction (and sad coffee!)
The IMS Competitizone Brew Basket is a precision ridgeless basket in two sizes: 58mm to fit commercial portafilters and 54mm to fit Breville portafilters.
Please note the 58mm does not fit the following Breville models: Dual Boiler BES900, BES920, Oracle BES980, Touch BES990
Each 58mm basket contains 715 (.30mm) holes in a hexagonal pattern designed to optimize even extraction, and a convex bottom to direct the espresso towards the center of the basket. 54mm baskets contain 583 (.30mm) holes.
The number and distribution is designed to balance the water delivery in relation to the height and shape of the filter and perforated area.
